Seed Production in Australia - Industry Market Research Report
Seed Production in Australia
Seed producers are closely linked to the volatile Agriculture subdivision, and demand for seeds can vary significantly from year to year. Recent years have been no exception, with droughts and floods exacerbating volatility. High rainfall levels over the last three years have brought an end to drought conditions and resulted in more agriculture firms purchasing seeds. Overall, seed production revenue has increased at an annualised 1.4% over the past five years, to $578.3 million. However, this includes an 8.1% decline in 2022-23, as sales peter out following significant growth in the previous two years.
The industry primarily produces seeds for propagation, including seeds for crops, such as grains, oilseeds, vegetables and fruit, and flowers. The industry includes large agricultural companies that produce genetically modified seeds, but excludes companies that import seeds and do not maintain local seed production capabilities.
This report covers the scope, size, disposition and growth of the industry including the key sensitivities and success factors. Also included are five year industry forecasts, growth rates and an analysis of the industry key players and their market
