A digital display technology known as a two-wheeler TFT (Thin Film Transistor) display is commonly employed in motorcycles, scooters, and other two-wheeled vehicles. This display sports more than 200PPI resolution with 1000-nits brightness. Both Sharp and ION teams have collaborated closely since mid-2020 to tightly integrate Sharp’s TFT LCD into the rest of ION M1-S HMI to serve as the nexus of all vehicle and ride information. This was achieved by binding Sharp’s TFT LCD to a robust automotive-grade cover glass via a custom optical bonding process, in order to deliver the best anti-glare and overhead-sun screen experience befitting of ION M1-S premium product and customer experience.

As a result, Hero MotoCorp has forayed into TFT displays, introducing its first model - Xpulse 200 4V featuring a 5-inch system - in March 2022 at an aggressive mid-range ex-showroom price of ₹ 1.28 lakh in India. This indicates the technology’s transition from premium feature to mainstream adoption in price-sensitive developing regions owing to supply-side improvements.
