LATIN AMERICA PATCH CABLE MARKET 2022-2028
MARKET OUTLOOK
The Latin American patch cable market is projected to depict growth, with a CAGR of 7.55% over the forecasting phase from 2022 to 2028, according to a report by Triton. Mexico, Brazil, and Rest of Latin America together shape the market in this region.
Data from the Telecom and Broadcasting study by the OECD in 2019 puts forth that Mexico has a higher percentage of fiber optic connections compared to the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and France. In 2017, approximately 18.3% of the total internet access in the country was provided through optical fiber networks.
Fiber optic cable (FOC) is gradually replacing other available alternatives like fixed wireless internet, owing to its benefits such as low latency and greater speed than radio wave technology. In the third quarter of 2019, there were 4.6 million fiber optic cable links in the country, a yearly rise of 24.6%, as per a report from the telecom regulator IFT. All these factors are expected to enhance the adoption of patch cables in Mexico.
On the other hand, Chile is increasingly spending on fiber optics projects, thus creating multiple opportunities for cable providers, systems integrators, and technology developers. Factors such as massive high-speed network projects currently underway in the country, especially the ones that aim to serve the domestic market, are majorly driving the demand for patch cables in the country. This, in turn, is fostering the growth of the patch cable market in Chile.
