Profile of Sheico Group: a leader in global markets for knitted performance materials and sportswear

Sheico Group, based in Wujie, Yilan County, Taiwan, is a leader in the global market for water sports apparel and accessories and its customers include the so-called "big three" companies in the surfing industry--namely Billabong, Rip Curl and Quicksilver. It also produces a variety of component materials and finished products for land sports apparel, including knitted performance fabrics. As a result of its strong ties with water sports, the company employs core values which revolve around water preservation and protecting natural resources. In keeping with these values, it operates a state-of-the-art waste water processing system at its dyeing and finishing facility, and several water recycling systems at its neoprene manufacturing facilities. At other facilities, the company operates rainwater collection systems which utilise natural water resources. Furthermore, it employs several environmentally sustainable materials in the manufacture of its products. For example, in the manufacture of neoprene for water sports apparel and accessories, it employs a colorant and reinforcement material called ECO Carbon Black which is derived from waste post-consumer tyres. Also, it employs a water-based adhesive called Aqua ± which is free from harmful volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
