Vietnam Water Treatment Systems Market By Technology (Water Softeners, Filtration Method, Disinfection Methods, Reverse Osmosis Systems, Distillation Systems, Others), By Application (Residential, Non-Residential), By Region, Competition Forecast & Opportunities, 2028
Vietnam Water Treatment Systems Market is expected to register an impressive CAGR during the forecast period, thanks to the rise in the demand for clean, chemical-free water among consumers.
A water treatment system is made up of several discrete technologies that meet specific water treatment needs. Water treatment is rarely a static process, and a treatment system, which is designed to meet fluctuating treatment needs, can go a long way toward avoiding costly replacements/upgrades.
An efficient and well-designed water treatment system must be able to manage variations in fouling and flow processes, variations in water chemistry requirements, necessary adjustments to chemical concentrations, and potential changes in wastewater requirements.
A basic water treatment system usually includes a clarifier to settle suspended solids present as a result of treatment, a supply of chemicals to facilitate the settling, flocculation or coagulation of metals and suspended solids, trace amounts of residual filtration to remove suspended solids, final pH setting, and post-treatment and control panel.
The main purpose of water treatment is to provide clean drinking water. Once the water is treated, it meets requirements of medical, pharmacological, chemical, and industrial applications for clean drinking water. The treatment process reduces the concentration of contaminants, such as airborne particles, parasites, bacteria, algae, viruses, and fungi. Water treatment takes place on a variety of scales, from large (such as entire cities) to small (such as individual households).
In the area of sewage treatment, there are about 40 municipal central sewage treatment plants with a treatment capacity of about 926,000 m3/day, but only 13% of the sewage is properly collected and treated. The National Green Growth Strategy 2021-2030 sets their next 2030 target of properly collecting and disposing of 95% of general waste and to achieve 50% in Type II cities and 20% in other cities for the proportion of properly collected and treated municipal wastewater. Vietnam expects an investment of USF10-20 billion over the next decade to achieve the above-mentioned goals.
Rising Investments Propelling Vietnam Water Treatment Systems Market
Vietnam is gearing up for the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Clean water and sanitation, health and well-being go hand in hand with water management. According to the Vietnam Water and Sewerage Association, the country's municipal water production is expected to increase from 10.9 million cubic meters in 2019 to 20 million cubic meters by 2030. Estimates of investment needs in the water sector range from USD 1.3 billion to USD 2.7 billion over the next decade.
Ho Chi Minh City is seeking investment in six planned wastewater treatment projects to treat about 3 million cubic meters of wastewater daily in the city. The planned wastewater treatment projects include Bac Sai Gon 1, Bac Sai Gon 2, Cau Dừa, Tay Bac, Tay Sai Gon and Suoi Nhum. The city plans to open tenders to select investors to implement these projects by 2025 and is expected to be completed by 2026-30. These projects will help the city reach its goal of treating 100% of domestic wastewater before it is released.
Use in Pulp & Paper Industry
The pulp & paper industry uses lot of water. A paper machine receives the pulp, forms it into a paper web, and presses and dries the water out of it. Forcefully pressing the sheet eliminates the water. Once the water has been extracted from the sheet, it is collected using a unique type of felt that should not be mistaken with the conventional sort. In contrast, a blotter sheet is used for creating paper by hand. Drying includes removing water from the paper sheets with heat or air. This was accomplished in the early days of papermaking by hanging the sheets like laundry. Different heated drying technologies are employed in more contemporary periods. The paper industry is expected to be up to 13.2 million tons. Exports of wrapping paper and sanitary paper remained firm. Currently, Vietnam exports wrapping paper to 33 countries and 5 continents, of which Asia accounts for the largest share (98.9%), followed by Africa (0.5%), Australia (0.4%), Europe and America (0.2%). Water is used for a variety of purposes in pulp and paper production, including as a means of transporting paper components on paper machines, as process water for cooking wood chips for pulp manufacturing, as a medium for heat transfer, and for washing pulpwood, pulp, and machinery. According to the Vietnam Pulp and Paper Association (VPPA), the domestic consumption of paper packaging in 2019 is estimated at 4.2 million tons. Over the past three years, Vietnam's paper exports have consistently achieved staggering annual growth rates of over 200%. In the first seven months of 2020, total paper production was estimated at over 2.79 million tons, an increase of 12.2% from the previous year.
Latest Mergers and Projects in Vietnam Water Treatment Systems Market
- In 2022, Samsung Engineering, an engineering, procurement, construction, and project management (EPC&PM) company, announced that it had acquired a 24% stake in Vietnamese water treatment company, Dong Nai Plastic (DNP) Water for approximately USD 41 million. The deal leaves Samsung Engineering with a 24% stake in DNP Water, DNP Holding with a 53% stake, and other shareholders with a 23% stake. DNP Water is a private company specializing in rural water supply business in Vietnam.
- In 2021, Germany's Aone Deutschland AG and Vietnam-based AquaOne Corporation signed a contract to build a surface water treatment plant for the Vàm Cỏ Đông river in southern Long An province. The project aims to provide clean water for daily use of local people. The water treatment plant will be built on an area of 71.5 hectares in Dong Qu Hoa District, Long An, at an estimated cost of approximately USD 218 million. The first phase was scheduled to be completed by the Q1 of 2023 and planned to have a capacity of 200,000 cubic meters day and night.
