Global Silage Additives Market Analysis 2022
The Global Silage Additives Market is expected to reach $2.62 billion by 2028 growing at a CAGR of 4.6% from 2021 to 2028. Silage is a mature item that is utilized as steers feed. Silage additives are important in the animal feed market due to it preserving the nutrient of grain, which can further be use in the future. Silage additive contains the anaerobic bacteria that give efficient fermentation and desired results. The primary role of the silage additive is to reduce the fermentation losses and improve the nutrient efficiency of grains. Inhibitors and stimulators also play a major role in silage additive growth. Inhibitors slow down the unwanted silage degradation whereas stimulators help to grow the lactic acid bacteria to reduce the silage pH at a faster rate. Silage additives are used to improve the nutrient composition of silage, reduce storage losses by promoting rapid fermentation, reduce fermentation losses by limiting the extent of fermentation, and improve the bunk life of silage.
Factors such as improvement in the quality of silage, rising adoption as a bio-fuel feedstock, and favourable government regulations are driving the growth of the market. However, silage losses due to mycotoxin and fungi and cost of ineffectiveness are restraining the growth of the market.
Based on type, the inoculants segment is going to have a lucrative growth during the forecast period which can be attributed to the improvements in animal performance due to increased gains or milk production due to the inoculants. If there is a high natural population of lactic acid bacteria, an inoculant is less likely to dominate the fermentation and provide a benefit. Most silage inoculants are lactic acid bacteria (LAB). Some products contain only homofermentative strains or heterofermentative strains while others are a combination of both types of LAB. The aim with an inoculant is to supply a sufficient amount of selected strains with known effects on fermentation to help ensure that fermentation proceeds rapidly and in the right direction.
