Global Data Center Energy Saving Solutions Market Research Report 2024
The global Data Center Energy Saving Solutions market was valued at US$ 8,914.45 million in 2023 and is anticipated to reach US$ 37,978.03 million by 2030, witnessing a CAGR of 21.06% during the forecast period 2024-2030.
Data center power consumption performance is measured in units of Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE). PUE is a limited-focus design, real-time and annual measurement of the total facility power divided by the IT equipment power, or a measurement of energy ‘waste’ going to non-IT equipment purposes. An ideal PUE is 1.0, that means 100% efficiency (i.e., all consumed energy is used only on IT equipment, no power distribution loses). But it is almost impossible to achieve. Many countries are implementing policies to limit the PUE under 1.5 for data centers. Improving the energy efficiency in data center is crucial.
Data centers have traditionally relied on air cooling for thermal management. However, air cooling can be inadequate for rack densities of 20 kW or more. Even if air cooling can support high-density racks, it is seldom the most efficient option. That’s why more data centers are looking to implement liquid cooling, which is far more effective at transferring heat than air.
There are mainly two groups of companies in the market dedicated to data center energy saving. One group, is IT equipment companies, such as Inspur, HPE, Dell, mainly provides liquid cooling serves, liquid cooling switches to the industry. The other one is companies who mainly focus on liquid cooling solutions, offering data center physical infrastructure with liquid cooling technology, like cooling systems, power supplies to the market. In fact, the two group companies often cooperate closely with each other to provide perfect energy management solution to the data center. However, companies engaged in the liquid cooling face a problem: The liquid cooling industry standards are imperfect, and the technical paths of various companies in the industry chain are diverse, product specifications and quality vary greatly, and various liquid cooling modules are incompatible, making it difficult for data center users to choose.
