Survey of Lawyers at Major Law Firms, Attendance at Law School Reunions

This study looks at whom, when and how often lawyers from major law firms attend their law school reunions, and how valuable they perceive these reunions to be.  The reports enables its readers to hone- in on lawyers most likely to attend, and most likely to attend more than one or two reunions in their lifetimes.  The study also helps law school staff to pinpoint attorneys most eager to serve on reunion committees.



Data in the reports is based on a sample of 221 attorneys at 65 major US law firms. Data is broken out by gender, work title, age, law school ranking, predominant area of legal practice and other variables.We asked: Have you ever attended a law school reunion?

30.13% had done so. Lawyers in white collar defense were the most obliging law school reunion participants; half had attended a law school reunion, with lawyers in taxation and energy/environment right behind.

Gender mattered; 36.42% of female attorneys had attended a reunion vs only 17.95% of men. Attendance was positively related to the prestige of the law school; more than a third of attorneys from top 20 law schools had attended a reunion vs. only 12.5% of those from schools ranked lower than 75.
