Analysis by Region - North America - US
Treasury yields were lower this past week, and the curve was steeper. The 3-year yield was more than 20bps lower as of early Friday afternoon, leading the gains as the reaction to the week's lower-than-expected inflation data outweighed the hawkish tone out of the FOMC meeting. Equities fell following the FOMC decision though. The S&P 500 Index was 2.7% lower for the week as of mid-Friday afternoon, and the Nasdaq was 3.2% lower. The dollar was little changed amid mixed signals from the inflation data, the hawkish FOMC and European Central Bank decisions, and a less hawkish decision from the Bank of England.
