Oil production in Equatorial Guinea continues to hover at levels far below the country's long-run average of 112,000 barrels per day (bpd). Production dropped from an average of 84,000 bpd in 2022 to 55,000 bpd in 2023. In Q2 2024, Exxon Mobil Corporation, which typically produces over 80% of Equatorial Guinea's total oil, announced an exit from the country. Data submitted to Opec indicates that production averaged 53,000 bpd in Q1 2024, cementing our forecast of a 9.0% y/y decline in oil production in 2024.
