We now expect Lebanon's economy to stagnate this year after we cut our GDP forecast by 2ppts. Following a fifth year of economic contraction in 2022, Lebanon appears no closer to a recovery. The latest PMI data signal tentative stabilisation in business conditions, defying headwinds stemming from the currency freefall and surging inflation. However, we think the deadlocked political situation will continue to hinder reform prospects, weighing on sentiment and activity.
