Guatemala outperformed regional peers last year with a strong 8% GDP expansion that drove output 6% above pre-pandemic levels despite low Covid vaccination coverage. However, we expect growth to slow to 2.5% in 2022 and 2.6% in 2023 as output normalizes back to pre-pandemic trends. Coronavirus pandemic risks have waned, but higher inflation and expected economic slowdowns in regional trade partners pose downside risks.
