Macro - Country Economic Forecasts - Afghanistan
We lowered our 2024 GDP growth forecast for Afghanistan by 0.2ppts to 9.2%, following a 12.4% contraction in 2023. The downgrade reflects the severe flooding seen in the northern region of the country since March, hitting an earthquake-stricken country wounded at the beginning of the year. Afghanistan remains one of the most vulnerable countries to natural disasters, acting as a persistent headwind to economic growth.
