Country Economic Forecasts - Norway
We have raised our mainland 2022 GDP growth forecast by 0.1ppt to 4.3%, following the full release of the 2021 national accounts. The mainland economy expanded by 1.3% q/q in Q4 despite a 0.4% m/m contraction in December due to the reimposition of Covid containment measures. While growth is expected to slow in Q1, we see monthly momentum picking up now that all restrictions on activity have been eased. Excess household savings and recovering private investment are the main near-term growth drivers, but high inflation is a downside risk. In 2023, we estimate growth will slow to 2.1%.
