Country Economic Forecasts - Argentina
Argentina’s GDP grew by 10.3% in 2021, backed by strength in retail trade and manufacturing. Output is almost 5% above its pre-pandemic level and inflation is mounting, so we maintain our view that the economy might be overheating and expect GDP growth to slow to 3.1% in 2022. Authorities have announced a staff-level agreement with the IMF that should prevent a solvency crisis until 2024. However, cuts to our 2022 GDP growth forecast are possible if internal demand is squeezed by the policies agreed with the Fund.
