Global Cardiology Market 2022-2028

The cardiology market which includes cardiology devices (excluding diagnostics and imaging), surgeries and drugs is growing with a CAGR of 6.3% for the forecasted period of 2021-2021. The market is mainly driven by impending burden of cardiovascular diseases on global population and economy. The economic burden is over $800 billion annually and may rise over $1 trillion by 2030. Cardiovascular diseases are the number one cause of death globally. CVDs are responsible for over 3 million deaths annually which is 30% of total death due to non-communicable diseases. Some of the major CVDs include coronary heart diseases, stroke, hypertensive heart diseases, inflammatory heart diseases, rheumatoid heart diseases and others.Coronary heart diseases are the leading cause of death followed by strokes. The prevalence and incidence rate of heart diseases are on a rise; especially in major emerging countries such as India, China and Japan. Another major factor driving the market is medical tourism. Especially in emerging markets such as India, ASEAN countries and China, the cost of surgery and treatment for cardiovascular diseases is low. In India a heart surgery may costs around 1,500 including pre and post-surgery costs whereas in the United States it costs 5 to 10 times. Hence, many Americans prefer to travel to India for their treatment. Same trend has been witnessed in major developed countries.

There has been significant improvement in terms of technologies and innovation. New methods are being developed to reduce the cost of surgeries and prevent any major mistakes. Robotic surgical arms, minimally invasive surgeries and hybrid operating room are helping health professionals to provide better services. Currently, these new innovations are costly; however, with rise in demand there will be significant fall in the prices.

The market for devices includes angioplasty balloons, stents, catheters, cardiac rhythm management devices such as defibrillators and pacemakers, ventricular assistive devices and other cardiology devices such as guidewires and cannulas.
