Aerospace Industry is Witnessing Increased InvestmentsGermany is increasing its total investments in national and European space development programs that include technology development for Ariane 6 launcher, ExoMars, and Mars Express programs. The German investments for space programs in 2020 will include USD 180 million for technology development, USD 370 million for telecommunication, USD 94 million for space security and situational awareness, USD 550 million for space transport operations, more than USD 800 million for earth observation, etc. Further, in August 2022, LiveEO, a Berlin-based provider of satellite analytics, secured Euro 19 million in funding, making it one of the largest investments in Earth Observation in Europe. MMC Ventures led the round with Euro 17 million of venture capital and further funds from the European Commission and Investitionsbank Berlin.
Also, to improve air transport in the country, the largest airline in the country, Lufthansa is expanding its fleet of aircraft. With constant plans for expansion, the airline is consistently engaged in the modernization of its long-haul fleet. The newly ordered 20 Boeing 787-9 and 20 additional Airbus A350-900 planes will be delivered to Germany between 2022 and 2027. In addition to this, Germany is a world leader in lightweight engineering technology, and the growing demand for materials such as composites, carbon fiber, etc., from the aviation and satellite manufacturing industry, is expected to drive the market growth.
