Global TMR Sensors Market Research Report 2024-Competitive Analysis, Status and Outlook by Type, Downstream Industry, and Geography, Forecast to 2030
Tunneling Magnetoresistance (TMR) sensors, sometimes known as spin-dependent tunneling sensors, were first designed in 1995. TMR sensors are advanced magnetic sensors that utilize the phenomenon of tunneling magnetoresistance to detect and measure magnetic fields. TMR sensors have a four-layer structure, similar to GMR sensors, except that the separating layer is an insulator layer that is usually made of MgO or Al2O3. The thickness of this layer must be about 1 nm. In these sensors, the insulator layer acts as an obstacle for electrons. It provides resistance against passing the electrons and the conduction arises by the electron tunneling phenomenon across the insulator layer. As explained earlier for GMR sensors, one of the ferromagnetic layers is pinned by an antiferromagnetic layer. TMR sensors have significant advantages over traditional magnetic sensors in terms of sensitivity, power consumption, and size.
Market Overview:The latest research study on the global TMR Sensors market finds that the global TMR Sensors market reached a value of USD 435.6 million in 2023. It’s expected that the market will achieve USD 726.69 million by 2029, exhibiting a CAGR of 8.9% during the forecast period.
TMR is the next generation of magnetoresistance technology to follow after GMR. TMR (MTJ) elements have completely replaced GMR elements in the hard disk drive read head application. One can expect that TMR magnetic sensor technology will take over other industrial applications as well, such as bio-sensing, Magnetic Random Access Memory (MRAM), and other areas of great technical advancement and societal contribution.
