Global Perovskite Solar Cells Market Research Report 2023-Competitive Analysis, Status and Outlook by Type, Downstream Industry, and Geography, Forecast to 2029
Perovskite solar cells is one of the emerging type of photovoltaic cells which is flexible and light in weight. Perovskite solar cell is a solar cell that consists of perovskite-structured compound, tin halide-based material, and hybrid organic-inorganic lead, as the light-harvesting active layer. The perovskite solar cells efficiency is high in devices using perovskite cells and has improved significantly over the past period due to the continuous developments in solar energy. Furthermore, these perovskite solar cells are used as a light absorber as they have the ability to reach a broad range of wavelengths of light which allows them to convert solar power into electricity and fabrication is done easily. The combination of perovskite solar cells with silicon is known as tandem cells.
Market Overview:
The latest research study on the global Perovskite Solar Cells market finds that the global Perovskite Solar Cells market reached a value of USD 467.26 million in 2022. It’s expected that the market will achieve USD 2247.9 million by 2028, exhibiting a CAGR of 29.93% during the forecast period.
GCL Optoelectronics, a subsidiary of GCL Technology, completed a B+ round of financing of 500 million yuan
December 14, 2022
Recently, Kunshan GCL Photoelectric Materials Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of GCL Technology, announced the completion of a B+ round of financing of RMB 500 million. The investment was jointly led by Temasek Investment, Sequoia China, and IDG Capital, followed by Chuanliu Investment and other institutions. Major shareholder GCL Technology continues to increase, and Light Source Capital acts as the exclusive financial advisor. This round of financing will be used to improve the process and equipment development of GCL Optoelectronics' 100MW large-scale perovskite module production line.
According to public information, as the global leader in the industrialization of perovskite solar modules, GCL Optoelectronics has accumulated rich experience in the industrialization of large-area module efficiency and pilot test lines, and has successfully scaled it up to a 100MW large-area module mass production line In terms of efficiency and stability, it leads the world in the two key indicators of offline components.
GCL Optoelectronics stated that in September 2021, GCL Optoelectronics will build the world's first 100MW mass production line with a module size of 1m×2m. At present, the 100MW production line of GCL Optoelectronics is in the stage of process development and equipment transformation. The efficiency of off-line modules has been steadily improved. It is expected to exceed 16% by the end of this year and achieve a conversion efficiency of more than 18% by the end of 2023. It is expected to become the world's first running through Mass-produced 100MW production line.
Wonder Solar to Establish a 10GW Perovskite Solar Cell Production Base for 6 Billion Yuan
August 10, 2021
Hubei Wonder Solar is committed to establishing a perovskite solar cell production base in Gedian Economic and Technological Development Zone, Ezhou City, Hubei Province, China. Founded in August 2016, Wonder Solar is a spin-off company of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, engaged in the R&D and production of emerging solar cells, aiming to achieve efficient and stable production based on printing technology.
According to Wonder Solar, after more than 20 years of persistence, they have developed a technology called printable mesoscopic perovskite solar cells. Through a special process, ordinary conductive glass can be turned into a perovskite solar cell under the premise of low cost and easy preparation. After mass production, the area cost will be one-third to one-fourth of that of traditional photovoltaic modules.
The project covers an area of about 110 mu and will be constructed in two phases. The first phase will build a 200MW large-scale test line for mesoscopic perovskite solar cells that can be printed, and gradually expand to 10GW to meet the demand for cheap solar cells in the photovoltaic market. After the project is completed and put into operation, it can produce more than 10GW of solar cells annually, realize an annual output value of 10 billion yuan, and create more than 500 jobs for the whole region.
