Global Hot Dip Galvanized Market Research Report 2023-Competitive Analysis, Status and Outlook by Type, Downstream Industry, and Geography, Forecast to 2029

Hot-dip galvanization is a form of galvanization. It is the process of coating iron and steel with zinc, which alloys with the surface of the base metal when immersing the metal in a bath of molten zinc at a temperature of around 840 °F (449 °C). When exposed to the atmosphere, the pure zinc (Zn) reacts with oxygen (O2) to form zinc oxide (ZnO), which further reacts with carbon dioxide (CO2) to form zinc carbonate (ZnCO3), a usually dull grey, fairly strong material that protects the steel underneath from further corrosion in many circumstances.

Hot-dip galvanizing (HDG) is the process of dipping fabricated steel into a kettle or vat containing molten zinc. The process is inherently simple which provides a distinct advantage over other corrosion protection methods.

Market Overview:

The latest research study on the global Hot Dip Galvanized market finds that the global Hot Dip Galvanized market reached a value of USD 9198.31 million in 2022. It’s expected that the market will achieve USD 10207.54 million by 2028, exhibiting a CAGR of 1.75% during the forecast period.

Drivers

Because hot-dip galvanizing has the advantages of low production cost, easy method, cathodic protection, firm plating and beautiful appearance, it is widely used in many fields. Hot-dip galvanizing is mainly used in construction, automobiles, electrical appliances, containers, transportation, energy, agriculture and other fields. Hot galvanizing has been widely used in automobile manufacturing since the 1990s.
In the early 1990s in the United States, Japan, Canada, Europe, etc., the proportion of hot-dip galvanizing in automobiles in developed countries was larger than that of building materials.
China has a large population and a large market demand. With the development of the western region, the hot-dip galvanizing industry has entered a new stage of rapid development.
South America, India, and the Middle East mainly use hot-dip galvanizing for construction, followed by electrical appliances, containers, and other industries, which are compatible with local industrial development.

Limitations

There are many types of hot dip galvanizing production, and each production process is different. Some types of production processes are complicated, the processing technology is difficult, the production cost is high, and the value is high. At the same time, the hot dip galvanizing industry is developing rapidly, and it is used in high-tech fields, as well as in automobiles and home appliances. It is closely related to the lives of the big people and is vulnerable to atmospheric corrosion.
From the perspective of regional economic development, the application of hot dip galvanizing in developed countries takes precedence over India and the Middle East. The incomplete industrial chain in India, the Middle East and other regions has made the technology in the region relatively backward, resulting in regional imbalances.
