Global Ferrite Cores Market Research Report 2023-Competitive Analysis, Status and Outlook by Type, Downstream Industry, and Geography, Forecast to 2029
Ferrite cores are a type of magnetic core made of soft ferrite. Soft ferrite is an iron-oxide-based soft magnetic material. This material features high electrical resistance and outstanding magnetic characteristics in the high-frequency range although saturation flux density is slightly lower than other soft magnetic materials. There are many types of ferrite cores. They form an essential part of inductors and transformers used in today's main application areas.
Market Overview:
The latest research study on the global Ferrite Cores market finds that the global Ferrite Cores market reached a value of USD 2271.07 million in 2022. It’s expected that the market will achieve USD 2535.1 million by 2028, exhibiting a CAGR of 1.85% during the forecast period.
Fluctuations in raw material prices.
The fluctuation of raw material prices is one of the main challenges facing the ferrite core market. Oxides such as iron oxide are the main components of ferrite cores. Therefore, changes in iron oxide prices are an important factor affecting the market. For example, the epidemic caused insufficient supply of raw materials and price increases, which hindered the development of the market. The impact of raw material price fluctuations has hindered the ferrite core market, which is one of the important issues facing manufacturers in the near future.
The wide application of ferrite cores is an important factor driving the development of the industry.
With the development of the production and application technology of high-temperature resistant iron powder magnetic core manufacturers, ferrite cores continue to carry out new innovations and improvements in inductors, transformers, filters and other application fields to meet market demand. As the research on ferrite cores continues to deepen, various shapes of cores made of ferrite materials have been formed. Different combinations of these cores have different performance and characteristics to meet the different needs of people. Magnetic cores made of these materials are widely used in consumer electronics, household appliances, automobiles, new energy and other industries. And used to make all kinds of transformers, inductors, chokes, suppressors, filters and other devices. These factors have promoted the development of the ferrite core market.
There are barriers in the industry.
Downstream customers have higher requirements for product consistency, stability, and supply scale, which determines the higher barriers to entry in the ferrite core industry. At the same time, the application of the receiving end is highly customized, requiring special design and matching for different customers. The final product needs to be certified by the downstream manufacturer. The certification process is mainly the overall reliability certification of the module, including sample pre-design certification, reliability certification and module verification. The entire project certification cycle is longer. Higher technology and qualification barriers determine the higher added value of ferrite cores. These factors have limited the development of the ferrite core market to a certain extent.
Region Overview:
In 2021, the share of the Ferrite Cores market in China stood at 53.24%.
Company Overview:
TDK is one of the major players operating in the Ferrite Cores market, holding a share of 7.73% in 2022.
TDK
TDK Corporation is a global leader in electronic solutions for smart society. Aims to commercialize ferrite, which is a key material for electronic and magnetic products.
DMEGC
DMEGC is a technologically leading enterprise integrating R&D, production and sales. The self-developed materials such as Mn-Zn DMR47, DMR95 DMR24, nickel-zinc ND5H, DN120L and metal magnetic powder DF series have reached the international leading level.
Segmentation Overview:
As for product types, the Mn-Zn Ferrite Core segment held the largest market share in 2021.
Nickel-Zinc Ferrite Core
Nickel-zinc ferrite (NiZn, with the formula NiaZn(1−a)Fe2O4). Nickel-zinc ferrite has low magnetic permeability. Nickel-zinc ferrite has a high resistivity and can be used in the frequency range of 2MHz to hundreds of MHz. For common-mode sensor applications from 70MHz to hundreds of gigahertz, nickel-zinc materials are recommended. Nickel-zinc ferrite can be used to make magnetic cores for intermediate frequency transformers, magnetic heads, short-wave antenna rods, tuned inductive reactors, and magnetic saturation amplifiers. Its application range and product maturity are much more advantageous than manganese-zinc ferrites. The unpainted nickel-zinc ferrite has a relatively rougher surface and a lighter color.
Mn-Zn Ferrite Core
Manganese-zinc ferrite (MnZn, with the formula MnaZn(1−a)Fe2O4). Mn-Zn Ferrite Core has higher permeability and saturation levels than Nickel-Zinc Ferrite Core. Manganese-zinc ferrite has high magnetic permeability. Manganese-zinc ferrite can be used in applications where the operating frequency is lower than 5MHz. Except for common mode inductors, for applications below 70MHz, the impedance of manganese-zinc materials makes it the best choice. It can be used to make magnetic cores, magnetic heads and antenna rods of inductors, transformers and filters. The unpainted manganese-zinc ferrite has a smoother surface and a darker color.
