Upgrade, change and growth of electricity demand

Transmission is one of the functions of power system, which enables the development and utilization of electric energy beyond the limitation of region. Therefore, the demand for electricity is one of the key driving factors for the development of this industry. With the development of global economy, industrialization and urbanization, the increase in electricity demand will continue to promote the growth of the electricity market. According to the International Energy Agency's 2023 Electricity Market Report, global electricity demand in 2022 will grow by about 2% year-on-year. In 2022, the demand for electricity in the Asia-Pacific region maintained an upward trend, with an increase of about 3.3%. In the region, India is the fastest growing country in electricity demand at about 8.4%, while China is growing at about 2.6%. Electricity demand in the Americas increased by 2.3% year-on-year. Electricity demand in the European region increased by 11% in 2021 and decreased by about 3% in 2022, mainly due to the energy crisis caused by the Russia-Ukraine war, resulting in higher electricity prices; Driven by population growth, the expansion of energy-intensive enterprises, and increased demand for air conditioning and seawater desalination, power demand in the Middle East increased by more than 2.6% year-on-year. The African region will grow by 1.5% in 2022. Therefore, the growth of global electricity demand will bring great opportunities for the power transmission market and is one of the main drivers of investment in this market.

Region Overview:

China is projected to account for a considerable share of the Electricity Transmission market and is expected to become the largest region by 2028.

Company Overview:

State Grid Corporation of China is one of the major players operating in the Electricity Transmission market, holding a share of 15.40% in 2023.
The State Grid Corporation Limited, referred to as the State Grid, is a large central enterprise in the People's Republic of China mainly engaged in transmission and power supply business. Established on December 29, 2002, State Grid is a state-authorized investment institution and state holding company approved by The State Council of the People's Republic of China. It mainly builds and operates China's power grid, supplying electricity to the whole country.

Segmentation Overview:

Among different product types, AC segment is anticipated to contribute the largest market share in 2028.

DC power transmission project is a project to achieve power transmission in the form of direct current, direct current refers to the charge flow direction of the only current. In the case of long distance distribution, HVDC transmission will be cheaper than the current common AC transmission system, and the power loss will be less.

AC refers to the current that changes periodically in both current intensity and current direction, usually with a sinusoidal waveform. Alternating current can transmit power efficiently.

Application Overview:

By application, the Industrial segment occupied the biggest share from 2018 to 2022.
