Global DL-Xylose Market Research Report 2023-Competitive Analysis, Status and Outlook by Type, Downstream Industry, and Geography, Forecast to 2029
Xylose is a form of naturally occurring sugar, which is present in xylan form in wood or straw and find used in food and beverages, dyeing and tanning. Xylose is also considered as wood sugar and classified as monosaccharide. Xylose is termed as healthy sugar, which prevents the absorption of sugar in the body, hence helping in maintaining the blood sugar level.
Market Overview:The latest research study on the global DL-Xylose market finds that the global DL-Xylose market reached a value of USD 1045.27 million in 2022. It’s expected that the market will achieve USD 1355.11 million by 2028, exhibiting a CAGR of 4.42% during the forecast period.
Opportunities
On the one hand, the xylose market is expected to grow with the advancement of science and discovery of different uses of xylose. Nowadays, this product has been widely used in Chemicals, food and beverage industries.
On the other hand, with the technology development, the production process and raw material source may be upgraded as well. Industrial upgrades can reduce the cost, reduce energy consumption, increase utilization, recycle waste, etc., so that manufacturers can enhances the competitiveness of manufacturers.
DL-Xylose demand will be increasing in emerging countries. For example, China, India have the largest population in the world, with the progress of economy, growth of per capita disposable income, the higher living standards, the market of DL-Xylose will have great market potential.
Region Overview:From 2023-2028, China is estimated to witness robust growth prospects.
Company Overview:The top three companies are Danisco (DuPont), Futaste Co., Ltd, and Zhejiang Huakang with the revenue market share of 17.28%, 13.64%, and 12.12% in 2018.
In June 2014, Stora Enso purchased the US-based company Virdia, a leading developer of extraction and separation technologies for the conversion of cellulosic biomass into highly refined sugars and lignin. In September 2014, Stora Enso announced plans to build a demonstration and market devel-opment plant to validate the extraction and separation technology in Raceland, Louisiana, USA. The demonstration plant, known as the B2X Plant, is the first of its kind and will utilize sugar cane bagasse, which is the biomaterial waste from sugar cane processing. This feedstock will come from the adjacent Raceland Raw Sugar Corporation sugar mill.
“The B2X Plant applies chemical and physical means to refine biomass to high purity monomeric hemicellulose sugars, high purity lignin and high purity cellulose pulp. The plant will initially implement the first part of the overall process to produce the highly refined sugar, xylose, along with de-soiled and de-ashed cellulose material that is suitable for other uses, such as energy production and pyrolysis to bio-oil,” explains Jim Biasca, Project Director for Bagasse to Xylose.
The xylose can, among other uses, be converted into xylitol, a natural sweetener, and used in a wide variety of consumer products such as chewing gums, toothpastes and mouthwashes due to its anti-cavity properties and cosmetics.
Construction of the plant started in February 2015 with earth works and has progressed through foundation and building erection. The installation of support steel and equipment started in August. The installation of additional support steel, equipment, piping, electrical, and instrumentation will begin shortly and continue into early 2016. The target for start-up of the plant is during the first half of 2016.
Segmentation Overview:Among different product types, D-Xylose segment is anticipated to contribute the largest market share in 2028.
Application Overview:By application, the Xylitol Industry segment occupied the biggest share from 2018 to 2022.
