Dermatology Market Research Reports & Industry Analysis

Dermatology is the specialized branch of medicine focusing on the skin and treatment of skin related diseases and conditions. This includes a variety of conditions, both pathological and cosmetic.

A dermatologist is a doctor, who through several years of post medical school training, specializes in the treatment of skin, hair, and nails. The diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of skin cancers, melanomas, moles, and other skin tumors are some of the most common focuses of a dermatologist. Other conditions commonly treated are acne, rashes (such as psoriasis and lichen planus), impetigo, herpes zoster, syphilis, and fungal diseases (i.e. athletes foot).

In addition to treating pathological skin conditions, dermatologists have become leaders in the field of cosmetic surgery. Some of the procedures frequently performed by cosmetic dermatologists include, but are not limited to; botox injections, collagen treatments, liposuction, laser skin therapies (for hair removal, skin resurfacing, tattoo removal, etc), and varicose vein removal.
