Global Ultralight Magnesium-Lithium Alloys for Aerospace Market Growth 2024-2030
Magnesium lithium alloy is prepared by adding lithium as the main alloying element and a small amount of other alloying elements (such as aluminum, zinc, etc.) to magnesium metal. Magnesium lithium alloy is considered one of the lightest structural materials, generally containing 5wt% to 16wt% lithium, with a density of 1.35-1.65g/cm3. It is 1/4-1/3 lighter than ordinary magnesium alloy and 1/3-1/2 lighter than aluminum alloy, and is known as "ultra light alloy" in the industry. In addition to being ultra light, magnesium lithium alloys have a higher specific strength than aluminum alloys and plastics, comparable to ordinary magnesium alloys, and a higher specific modulus than commonly used magnesium alloys, aluminum alloys, and plastics. And the damping is large, more than ten times that of aluminum alloy, which can absorb impact energy, has good shock absorption and noise reduction effects, and also has outstanding performance in shielding electromagnetic interference.
