Thermal power unit transformer is a type of transformer used in power generation and distribution systems. It is a key component of a power plant, used for boosting or reducing voltage. Thermal power unit transformers are designed to handle high levels of power and operate under extreme temperature and environmental conditions. The working principle of transformers in thermal power units is to transfer electrical energy from one circuit to another using electromagnetic induction. It consists of a primary winding and a secondary winding, which are wound around a magnetic core. The primary winding is connected to the power supply and the secondary winding is connected to the load. When alternating current (AC) flows through the primary winding, it generates a magnetic field that induces voltage in the secondary winding. The voltage is proportional to the ratio of the number of turns in the secondary winding to the number of turns in the primary winding. Thermal power unit transformers can increase or decrease the power voltage based on the number of turns of the primary and secondary windings. It is typically used to raise the power voltage generated by power plants to a higher level for long-distance transmission, and then lower it again to a lower voltage for distribution to consumers.
