A solid state cabinet circuit breaker (SSCCB) is a device that uses solid-state electronic components to implement circuit protection functions and is usually installed in a cabinet. Unlike traditional mechanical circuit breakers, it does not use mechanical contacts, but uses semiconductor devices such as thyristors and IGBTs (insulated gate bipolar transistors) to open and close the circuit.
Compared with mechanical circuit breakers of the same capacity, solid-state circuit breakers are small in size, light in weight, and do not generate noise and vibration during the switching process. Solid-state circuit breakers can provide very precise current control and are suitable for occasions with high requirements for current control. They can disconnect fault circuits in microseconds, which is much faster than traditional mechanical circuit breakers. Since there is no mechanical contact, solid-state circuit breakers do not have mechanical wear problems and do not need to replace wear parts regularly like mechanical circuit breakers. Therefore, they have a longer service life, greatly reduce maintenance workload, and can work stably in harsh environments.
