Short-range millimeter wave radar is a radar system that uses millimeter wave (mmWave) signals and is mainly used in vehicle applications such as parking assistance, blind spot detection, lane change assistance, etc. The characteristic of short-range millimeter wave radar is that it can provide high-resolution, high-precision, and high-reliability target detection and tracking within a short distance (generally less than 40 meters). The basic principle of short-range millimeter wave radar is to use linear frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) signals to transmit and receive signals to the front space through transmitting and receiving antennas, and then mix the transmit signals and received signals through a mixer to obtain an intermediate frequency ( IF) signal, the frequency of which is related to the distance and speed of the target. By performing Fourier transform (FFT) and signal processing on the IF signal, the distance, speed, azimuth and other information of the target can be obtained. The advantages of short-range millimeter wave radar are its small size, low power consumption, high anti-interference, and high temperature stability, and is suitable for working in complex urban traffic environments. Compared with other types of vehicle-mounted radars (such as medium-range radar and long-range radar), the main differences between short-range millimeter wave radars are parameters such as operating frequency, maximum detection distance, and detection angle of view.
