A resistance vacuum gauge is an instrument that indirectly measures air pressure by measuring changes in resistance. It can measure the pressure of gas very stably and accurately in vacuum or low pressure environments. Its main principle is based on the changes in the resistance value of the resistance wire at different temperatures. It can infer the pressure of the gas by accurately measuring the changes in temperature and resistance value. A common form of resistance vacuum gauge is the Pirani gauge, which uses a thin platinum wire as a resistive element, which is heated by an electric current and measures its temperature and resistance.
