Rare earth denitration catalyst (REDC) is a catalyst used in the automotive industry to reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions from diesel engines. The catalyst is made from rare earth elements such as cerium, lanthanum, and praseodymium, which are coated on the substrate material. When the exhaust gas from a diesel engine passes through REDC, the catalyst reacts with NOx molecules and converts them into harmless nitrogen and water vapor. This process is called selective catalytic reduction (SCR). REDC can effectively reduce NOx emissions by up to 90% and is widely used for diesel vehicles in Europe and other regions with strict emission regulations. They are also used in power plants and other industrial processes to reduce NOx emissions.
