A three-phase diode bridge rectifier is a power electronic device used to convert three-phase AC power to DC power. It usually consists of six diodes, which are respectively connected between the phases and the midpoint of the three AC power sources to form a bridge rectifier circuit. When working, when the positive half-cycle voltage of the power supply is greater than the negative half-cycle voltage of the power supply, the corresponding diode is turned on, forming a closed loop and introducing the current into the DC load terminal. When the negative half-cycle voltage of the power supply is greater than the positive half-cycle voltage, the other three diodes will be turned on, forming a closed loop and continuing to introduce the current into the DC load terminal. Therefore, the bridge rectifier can provide a stable DC power output from a three-phase AC power supply. The three-phase diode bridge rectifier has the advantages of simple structure and low cost, and is suitable for fields requiring stable DC power such as industrial control, motor drive, and AC motors. But the disadvantage is that the output voltage pulsation is large, and there is a large harmonic distortion. Therefore, in some occasions that require high output voltage quality, other types of rectifiers using three-phase AC power supply, such as three-phase controllable rectifiers, can be selected.
