The global Palladium Alloy Thin Film Hydrogen Sensor market size is predicted to grow from US$ 15.1 million in 2025 to US$ 19.5 million in 2031; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 4.4% from 2025 to 2031.
The Palladium alloy thin film hydrogen sensor is a device that uses a palladium alloy thin film to detect hydrogen. It has the characteristics of good selectivity, no cross-interference, no need for oxygen to participate in the reaction, resistance to extreme environments such as high temperature and high humidity, and long service life. Its working principle is based on the catalytic decomposition of the gas by the metal film. After the hydrogen molecules are adsorbed on the surface of the alloy film, they are decomposed into hydrogen atoms under the catalytic action of the palladium alloy film. These hydrogen atoms diffuse into the interior of the palladium alloy lattice, causing lattice expansion and phase change, resulting in changes in the conductivity of the alloy film, thereby realizing the measurement of hydrogen concentration.
