Nickel paste is usually used as the internal electrode of multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCC). Nickel paste is a conductive paste composed of nickel powder, organic solvent, dispersant and binder. Nickel paste is applied to the ceramic substrate by screen printing or other coating techniques to form an internal electrode with a multilayer structure. There are two main types of internal electrodes for MLCC: bonding type and non-bonding type. The non-bonding type internal electrode mainly uses nickel powder to make the conductive layer, using a pressing and sintering process. The bonding type internal electrode uses nickel paste as the conductive material. During the sintering process, the organic components in the nickel paste will burn off, causing the nickel powder particles to bond to each other to form a conductive layer.
