Global NbTi Superconducting Alloy Market Growth 2025-2031

Global NbTi Superconducting Alloy Market Growth 2025-2031

The global NbTi Superconducting Alloy market size is predicted to grow from US$ 202 million in 2025 to US$ 394 million in 2031; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 11.8% from 2025 to 2031.

Superconducting materials are divided into low-temperature superconducting materials and high-temperature superconducting materials. Superconducting materials with critical temperature below 25K~30K are low-temperature superconducting materials, and superconducting materials with critical temperature higher than 25K~30K are high-temperature superconducting materials. At present, application devices based on low-temperature superconducting materials generally work at liquid helium temperature (4.2K and below), and application devices based on high-temperature superconducting materials generally work between liquid hydrogen temperature (about 20K) to liquid nitrogen temperature (about 77K).

NbTi is an important low temperature superconducting material. The NbTi alloy can be processed into an alloy by the general refractory metal processing method, and then processed into a multi-core composite superconducting wire with copper (or aluminum) as the matrix by the multi-core composite processing method. Finally, the final alloy is made of β single phase by metallurgical methods. Transform into a two-phase (α+β) alloy with a strong pinning center to meet application requirements. The main difference between NbTi and NbsSn is that NbTi is a binary alloy with good processing plasticity, high strength, low manufacturing cost and low critical magnetic field. It is mainly used for magnetic fields below 10T; The performance is poor and the manufacturing cost is high, but the critical magnetic field is high, and it is mainly used for magnetic fields above 10T.

Global key players of NbTi Superconducting Alloy include Bruker, Allegheny Technologies, Luvata, JASTEC, Western Superconducting, etc. The top three players hold a share over 61%. North America is the largest market, has a share about 35%, followed by Europe and Asia-Pacific, with share 29% and 27%, separately. In terms of product type, NbTi Superconducting Wire is the largest segment, occupied for a share of 70%, and in terms of application, MRI has a share about 29 percent.
