NPN bipolar transistor is a triode semiconductor electronic device, which is composed of three different types of semiconductor materials: N-type semiconductor, P-type semiconductor and N-type semiconductor. Among them, a layer of P-type semiconductor is sandwiched between the N-type semiconductor and the P-type semiconductor, forming two PN junctions, so it is called an NPN bipolar transistor.
The basic structure of the NPN bipolar transistor includes three electrodes: emitter (Emitter), base (Base) and collector (Collector). Wherein, the emitter and the collector are N-type semiconductors, and the base is P-type semiconductors. In normal operation, the junction between the emitter and base is forward biased and the junction between the base and collector is reverse biased.
NPN bipolar transistors can be used as important components in electronic circuits such as amplifiers, switches, and current controllers. When the base current is properly controlled, the NPN bipolar transistor can amplify small signals, thus realizing the function of signal amplification in the amplifier.
