Multiplexing analog-to-digital converter (ADC) is an electronic device that converts analog signals into digital signals. It operates by sampling multiple analog input signals at one time and converting them into digital signals. This process is completed using a multiplexer, which selects the input signal to be converted and connects it to the ADC. Multiplexers usually have multiple inputs, allowing ADC to convert multiple analog signals with a single conversion process. The converted digital signal is then sent to the microcontroller or other digital processing unit for further processing or storage. One advantage of multiplexing ADC is that it can reduce the number of ADC required by a given application, thus reducing the system cost and complexity. However, compared with dedicated ADC, multiplexed ADC usually has a slower conversion rate, which may be a limiting factor in applications requiring high-speed signal acquisition.
