A micro-turbine flow meter, also known as an axial flow or Pelton wheel flow meter, is a device used to measure the flow rate of low-volume clean gases or liquids and is ideal for measuring consistent flow rates. A micro-turbine flow meter uses a tiny micro-turbine impeller (similar in size to a U.S. dime) for volumetric measurement, which rotates as the liquid/gas flows through the flow meter. As the flow passes through the flow meter, it is directed onto the extremely small teeth of the impeller through a precision machined nozzle. The size of this nozzle is based on the flow range of the device. The rotational speed of the micro-turbine impeller increases in proportion to the volumetric flow rate.
