Interdigital IDT filters are filters that use interdigital transducers (IDTs) as key components. IDTs are made by depositing a layer of metal film on a piezoelectric substrate and obtaining a row of crossed electrodes by photolithography. When an alternating electric field is loaded on these crossed electrodes, surface acoustic waves (SAWs) are generated on the piezoelectric substrate through the inverse piezoelectric effect. These surface acoustic waves are then used to filter signals. The working principle of interdigital IDT filters is mainly based on the propagation and filtering characteristics of surface acoustic waves. When a high-frequency voltage is applied to both ends of the IDT, a potential difference is generated between adjacent fingers, thereby forming a high-frequency electric field on the surface of the piezoelectric substrate and in the nearby space. These electric fields further generate high-frequency strains inside the piezoelectric substrate, thereby exciting surface acoustic waves. These surface acoustic waves propagate on the surface of the piezoelectric substrate and achieve selective filtering of signal frequencies through specific design.
