Potassium silicate, also known as potassium water glass, is a colorless, slightly colored, transparent or semi transparent viscous liquid with a pH value of 11-13. The relative density and viscosity of the product vary with the product model, with a relative density between 1.16 and 1.45 (20 ℃). Potassium silicate is soluble in water and alkaline solution, insoluble in alcohol and organic solvent, and can dissociate from gel by interaction with acid. The characteristic of forming a film by reacting with substances with hydrophilic groups on the surface, such as glass, cellulose, and other substances, can chemically react with surface hydroxyl groups to form a film and enter soft glass. The larger the modulus, the higher the viscosity and strength of potassium water glass, but the solubility in water decreases; The smaller the modulus, the better the film-forming ability of water glass.
