High definition electronic cholangioscopy (HDEC) is a medical program used to examine and treat liver and pancreatic bile ducts. This is an endoscopic surgery that uses specialized cameras and imaging systems to provide high-resolution images of the bile ducts. In HDEC surgery, a flexible tube called an endoscope is inserted into the patient's mouth and guided downwards along the esophagus into the stomach and small intestine. Then use a special tool called sphincter cutter to guide the endoscope into the bile duct. Once the endoscope is in place, specialized cameras and imaging systems are used to provide high-resolution images of the bile duct. These images are displayed on monitors, allowing healthcare providers to conduct detailed examinations of the bile ducts and identify any abnormalities, such as tumors or blockages. In addition to diagnostic purposes, HDEC can also be used to perform treatment procedures such as removing gallstones or placing stents to open blocked bile ducts. The use of HDEC helps reduce the demand for more invasive surgical procedures and can improve patient prognosis.
