Field emission environmental scanning electron microscope (FE-ESEM) is an electron microscope that combines field emission technology and environmental scanning technology. It uses a high-energy electron beam to irradiate the sample surface, and obtains the surface morphology and micro-area composition information of the sample by detecting signals such as secondary electrons generated by the interaction between the sample and the electron beam. FE-ESEM uses a field emission electron gun, which can obtain higher electron beam energy and smaller beam spot diameter, thereby achieving higher resolution. This enables FE-ESEM to observe more subtle sample surface structures. FE-ESEM can work under water vapor conditions of a certain pressure, avoiding surface morphology changes caused by water loss of the sample under vacuum conditions. This makes FE-ESEM particularly suitable for surface morphology analysis of non-conductor materials without the need for pretreatment steps such as spraying conductive films.
