Excimer lamps, also known as ultraviolet excimer lamps or excimer discharge lamps, are a special type of gas discharge light source. It uses a specific gas mixture (usually including rare gases such as xenon (Xe) and fluorine (F2) or other halogen gases) to discharge under the action of a high-frequency electric field to produce high-intensity ultraviolet radiation. These gas mixtures will form a short-lived excimer state during the discharge process. These excimers can emit ultraviolet rays of a specific wavelength after excitation, usually in the ultraviolet C (UVC) band, with a wavelength range of approximately 100-280 nanometers. Excimer lamps have the characteristics of high energy density, low reaction temperature, large area processing capacity and fast reaction time, so they are widely used in many fields, such as photolithography in semiconductor manufacturing, light cleaning and light modification in LCD production, ultraviolet disinfection in medical equipment, surface modification in materials science research, and air purification in environmental protection.
