The global Bioceramsite market size is predicted to grow from US$ 437 million in 2025 to US$ 522 million in 2031; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 3.0% from 2025 to 2031.
The biological ceramsite filter material generally uses clay and the like as the main raw material, and is processed into a porous ceramsite particle with a closed or microporous structure. The ceramsite is porous inside, with large specific surface area, good chemical and thermal stability, and good adsorption performance. It is an ideal filter material for water treatment.
Bio-ceramic granules are granular materials produced through a series of processing steps, including drying, ingredient mixing, grinding, pelletizing, high-temperature firing, and sieving, with high-quality clay as the main raw material. They have a near-spherical shape with a dark brown surface, and the particle size can be produced according to specific requirements. The physical microstructure of bio-ceramic granules as filter media is characterized by a well-developed and evenly distributed surface micro-pores, with an average micropore diameter of about 200 micrometers. Microorganisms grown within the micropores are not easily lost, allowing the bacterial strains to be maintained even during intermittent operation of the aerated biofilter. The large specific surface area of bio-ceramic granules allows for the attachment, growth, and reproduction of a large number of microorganisms, increasing the volumetric load of the aerated biofilter and significantly improving degradation rates. Furthermore, bio-ceramic granules are lightweight, high-strength, resistant to friction and flushing, and do not release toxic or harmful substances into the water. They possess favorable physical, chemical, and hydraulic properties, making them suitable for various wastewater treatment requirements. Applications of bio-ceramic granules include their use as filter media in water reuse projects, treatment of urban wastewater in biological aerated filters (BAF), and industrial circulating water treatment. They serve as bio-carriers in biological aerated tanks.
