Air adsorption dryers, which achieve their drying effect by "pressure change" (the principle of variable pressure adsorption). As the capacity of the air to hold water vapour is inversely proportional to the pressure, a portion of the dried air (called regenerated air) is depressurised and expanded to atmospheric pressure. This pressure change makes the expanded air drier and then allows it to flow over the desiccant layer (i.e. the drying tower which has absorbed enough water vapour) which is not connected to the airflow and needs to be regenerated.
