Europe Animal Milk Replacer Market Size, Share & Industry Trends Analysis Report By Type, By Distribution Channel, By Form (Solid and Liquid), By Animal Type (Calf, Small Animal, Kitten, Foal, Pig, Puppies), By Country and Growth Forecast, 2022 - 2028
The Europe Animal Milk Replacer Market would witness market growth of 4.1% CAGR during the forecast period (2022-2028).
With the advent of milk substitutes containing up to 32% protein, milk substitute feeding has evolved in recent years. This is occasionally known as the rapid feeding regimen. Also, with the advent of self-feeders, it has been reported that calves take up to 10 liters of reconstituted milk each day. The growth rates of calves given a 28:20 (protein: fat) milk replacer powder at roughly 1.3 kg/d are almost 300 g/d more than those of calves getting 560 g of traditional (22:20) milk replacer powder (750 vs. 460 g/d, respectively). Typically, weaning is defined by the amount of starter grain the calf consumes (227 g/d for three consecutive days).
Typically, calves receive half of their milk substitute for seven days. This forces the calf to take more of the starter's nutrients. Consequently, this period of the calf's life is frequently stressful. Numerous studies have been undertaken to determine how calves can be efficiently weaned with minimal trauma. This has led to the implementation of a process in which calves are gradually given less milk replacer over several days. During this period, calves receiving the high protein milk replacer gained just 80–150 g/d compared to the normally fed calves which gained roughly 640 g/d. After weaning, there were no differences between treatments in terms of average daily increase
About 2,550 dual-purpose German Black Pied cattle (DSN) are an endangered population in Germany. The German government and the European Union promote the preservation of DSN despite its about 2,500 kg lower milk output than the main dairy breed, Holstein. The discovery of genomic loci influencing milk production in DSN can serve as a foundation for selection decisions for the genetic improvement of DSN to maximize market opportunities through the enhancement of milk output.
A genome-wide association study was performed on 30 milk characteristics throughout various lactation times and numbers. On 1,490 DSN cattle genotyped with the BovineSNP50 SNP-chip, an association was determined using multiple linear regression models in R. In addition to the 41 significant and 20 suggestive SNPs impacting milk production parameters in DSN, 15 additional SNPs for protein content that are less trustworthy due to excessive inflation were discovered.
