Fusion Splicer Market: Global Industry Trends, Share, Size, Growth, Opportunity and Forecast 2023-2028
The global fusion splicer market size reached US$ 700 Million in 2022. Looking forward, IMARC Group expects the market to reach US$ 1,050 Million by 2028, exhibiting a growth rate (CAGR) of 5.9% during 2023-2028.
A fusion splicer is an equipment that is used to weld two or more fibers together to form a single unit. It works by aligning pre-prepared fiber tops and fusing them. The resulting joint or fusion splice is used to pass optical light signals through the fibers. The splicer consists of an optical core that assists in aligning fiber cables, a Profile Alignment Systems (PAS) software that helps in estimating the loss of material during splicing, multiple fiber strippers, and a local injection detection system that detects the edges where the light is reflected. It finds extensive application across various industries as it offers low variable costs per fusion splice and has the least reflectance and loss of signals. Fusion spliced fibers can also withstand extreme temperatures and prevent dust and other particles from entering the optical path.
The increasing adoption of cloud-based infrastructure across the globe is the key factor driving the growth of the market. The rising demand for hyper connectivity by consumers is augmenting the need for fiber optic cables that provide extended bandwidth. Furthermore, the convergence of video, voice and data networks with extensive fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) arrangements have increased the demand for fusion spliced optical fiber. Additionally, the rapid growth of various industries including aerospace, defense, telecommunication and healthcare is also providing a boost to product sales. Other factors that are creating a positive outlook for the market include technological advancements and increased government funding for research and development to develop efficient fiber-optic networks.
