Worldwide Service Provider Router Market Shares, 2021: Cisco Rebounds with Gaining a Large Market Share in North America

This IDC study reviews the worldwide service provider router market for 2021."The overall carrier IP routing market rebounded with 7.9% YoY growth in 2021 due to accelerated spending by service providers to add capacity and increased deployment of 400Gbps technology. North American service providers ramped up their investment in the infrastructure to support growing demand for bandwidth and surpassed all other regions in the router investment," says Ajeet Das, research director, Carrier Network Infrastructure, at IDC. "Cisco and Nokia have both been the star performer in the service provider routing market in 2021 and appear to have gained share in all regions aided by the buildout of the 5G network infrastructure around the globe where its broader portfolio appears to be helping it gain share.
