Worldwide Service Provider Infrastructure Forecast, 2023–2027
This IDC study provides historical data (2018–2022) and forecast data (2023–2027) for the worldwide service provider compute and storage infrastructure market. The forecast and historical data illustrate consumption of infrastructure hardware segmented by service provider category: hyperscaler, cloud service provider, digital service provider, communications service provider (telco), and dedicated hoster. For each of these categories, IDC has estimated the value (end-user spending), units, and storage capacity shipped."Service provider infrastructure spending has been growing well for over a decade, and 2022 was no exception, as improvements to the supply chain opened the infrastructure deployment floodgates yet again," said Kuba Stolarski, research vice president for IDC's Compute and Storage Infrastructure practice. "While 2023 may be a slower growth year, once this macroeconomic storm passes (which should happen by 2024), healthy double-digit growth will return as customers return to cloud service providers for their as-a-service needs (particularly for AI workloads) digital service providers expand their consumer services, and telcos accelerate their network modernization for MEC services."
