Worldwide Server Market Shares, 3Q21: Server Market Grows Despite Ongoing Component Shortages and Transportations Delays

This IDC study provides a brief overview of the worldwide server market performance during the third quarter of 2021."Worldwide spend on enterprise infrastructure — including both server and enterprise storage systems — continued to grow in the third quarter of 2021 in spite of worsening component shortages and rising transportation costs and shipping delays. No server vendor was exempt from these difficulties, but some are able to weather the supply chain hiccups better than others, at least for now," said Zsofia Madi-Szabo, research director, Infrastructure Systems, Platforms, and Technologies at IDC. "We do not expect to see these problems resolve quickly during the last quarter of 2021 — therefore, we will probably see more vendors struggling to meet customer demand for their server products for a few more quarters in 2022."
