This IDC study quantifies the U.S. and worldwide production printer market.“The production printing market is undergoing a lot of change, with pressure from digital display and transfer of information reducing demand for print overall,” said Tim Greene, research director, Hardcopy Solutions, IDC. “As print volumes change, the demand for different types of systems emerges, and we are seeing growth for more automated systems with greater speeds and lower operating costs. However, great technology continues to develop, and we are seeing more laser/toner-based printers with extra colors providing commercial printers the great opportunity to participate in higher-margin print markets that improve profitability.”
